1/100 Gundam Astray Red Frame

Finally, i completed it. This is my first non graded gundam model kit and in my opinion it is really good. The proportion and poseability of this model kit is very good given that it is a non graded version. My only complain? it is very light thus making the work of balancing the kit a bit tougher than MGs but thats expected because of the lack of inner frame. The construction of this model kit is rather simple as the pieces are all quite big, but there are quite a lot of panel lining to do (unless you don't care about areas which are not visible after snapping on the armors), there are also a few areas need to be painted to bring out the details otherwise everything will just look white.

The original painting i done on
the handle of the "Gerbera Straight" wasn't very satisfactory so I wrapped it with golden threads and it also gives a better grip. Overall, i like this kit very much, because of its great poseability and not forgetting the Gerbera Straight (i'm such a sword lover). This kit makes me wanna get the 1/100 Gundam Astray Blue Frame so much, but will have to hold till i get at least 1 Hazel to start building for ZeroG's Hazelnut groupbuild( i even got myself 3 hrududus, waiting to complement the Hazel). But, but, but, everything will have to put on hold till January as i've just paid the deposit for 1/144 HGUC Dendrobium. So, i'm very broke now...any donations? >.<

MG Strike Freedom

The MG Strike Freedom that will be released in December, there will be 2 versions for this new release; 1 normal an another with special option parts.

I never really like Freedom, I guess its because how they potrayed the Freedom gundam as a godlike, the way it fight is just way too boring for me, neutron jammer canceller + multi-targetting + rainbow spam FTW!!! >.< Thats the reason why i never bother to get the MG Freedom as i know i'll never appreciate it. But this coming MG Strike Freedom is going to change that, in fact its going to be on my must buy list when it comes out. Why? cause i'm such a sucker for bling blings :P

New W.I.P

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Just got this 1/100 Gundam Astray Red Frame in mid week,
currently both legs are done. The progress isn't fast as there are quite a number of panel lines to do and i have quite a few other things to do on my list. Also, i'll need to wait for the paints i ordered from xl-shop to arrive in order to complete it. Will update soon, once more parts has been completed.

MG Aile Strike Gundam

GAT-X105+AQM/E-X01 Aile Strike

This is the first ever gundam plastic model that i've ever bought, and thanks to this kit i can't get enough of gundam models now >.< It all started when i dig out the Gundam Seed series from my friend's pc and started watching, from the first time i saw Strike in action i knew i'm in love with gundam. This model was first built when i literally knows nothing about building a gundam plastic model, i spent not more than 5 hours to complete it initially. The panel lining was done only after the kit was fully assembled as a result the task was really hard and a lot of area was already inaccesible. I also broke a few pieces of the plastic while assembling, so a lesson learned there; no rushing when fixing model kits and no fixing when sleepy.

Before weathering.

I've read a tutorial on weathering and battle damage not long ago and it inspire me to do it on the MG strike as i thought the initial build was rather plain. So, i went out to get 2 tubes of artist oil and a couple of brushes in addition to the weathering pastel i bought earlier.

Before i start the weathering the first thing i did was the battle damage, its pretty easy actually just run a heated blade on the parts that you want the damage and the plastic will melt away, very much like how the beam sabers would melt away steels.

The weathering was done by applying the weathering pastel to the damaged area to give the effects of burned iron, and also various parts of the gundam for the effects of rainmarks. I use drybrushing techniques to apply all the effects as it gives more control and also the effects are not too uniformed. After applying all the effects i sprayed a few layers of flat coating on the gundam the coating will protect the paint and pastel that i've applied so that they won't just fall off and the flat coating also gives the gundam a more solid look rather than the glossy look the plastic gives.

Some people think that i'm crazy to do such thing to a Master Grade model, but for me, i think it looks much better with the effects on.

ah...Gundam Spiegel, it will be very familiar for those of you who watched Gundam G. It represent Neo-Germany in the 13th Gundam Fight, the pilot was Schwarz Bruder. This is actually my second master grade kit, compared to MG strike( can only compare with strike as it is the only other MG kit i have now), i find this one is quite easy to build as the parts are mostly larger. I also find this kit to be somewhat sturdier compared to MG strike, maybe its because this kit uses a lot of screws. The kit also comes with unpainted 1/20 scale Schwarz Bruder and Rain Mikamura figures. In my opinion, the package is worth the price i paid, it cost me RM90++ which is cheaper than what i paid for HG 1/144 Oowashi Akatsuki. I think this kit is only for those who like Gundam G as it is quite simple if you compare to Gundams from other series, it does not have a wide array of arnaments, big guns or heavy bazooka. Overall, the MG Spiegel is a nice kit, it can pose well though you shouldn't expect it to have the same amount of poseability like the latest model kits.
